Scholarships

  • Is there a student in your home that is a graduating High School Senior who is preparing to enter college?
  • Is there a College Student in your home who needs financial assistance to remain in school?
  • Are you wondering how you are going to pay for their college education?

If you answered "yes," please encourage your students to apply for these scholarships, especially for scholars who are living in Public or Assisted Housing (Section 8).


NAHRO Merit College Scholarship/NAHRO-LDG Scholars Program - Deadline - Contact Regional Representative

Three (3) $12,000 scholarships over four years to assist with tuition and fees, which will also include:

  • $3,000 a year for up to three years as a summer internship stipend
  • Networking opportunities with business and community leaders 

Applicants must submit an essay of 750-1,000 words to answer the following questions: 

  • "Where do you see yourself in the next four years, and how will this scholarship help you achieve those goals?"
  • "What are you doing now to achieve those goals?"

PHADA Scholarship Programs - Deadline - January Annually

Three scholarships will be awarded:

  • Stephen J. Bollinger Memorial Scholarship ($10,000) - This Scholarship will be awarded at the PHADA Annual Convention and Exhibition. The winner will also receive a trip for him/herself and one parent/guardian to attend the convention.
  • Civil Rights and Social Justice Scholarship ($5,000) - Students must submit a personal essay (350-500 words) demonstrating their efforts and achievements in furthering the values of the civil rights movement. Explain why the cause is still relevant in communities today and how they relate to your educational goals. Include any relevant volunteer experiences and community involvement activities relating to advancing the cause of civil rights.
  • Nan McKay Pathway to Achievement Scholarship ($5,000) -This scholarship will be awarded by the Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (PHADA), which is an organization of 1900 housing authorities across the United States. PHADA also serves as an advocate before the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on a variety of regulations governing public housing nationwide.

Miami Dade College - Future Ready Miami-Dade Scholarship

The Future Ready Miami-Dade Scholarship at Miami Dade College ensures all Miami-Dade County residents can complete an associate degree tuition-free.
It covers costs not met by grants, financial aid, or other scholarships.

Support Services Include:

  • Personalized onboarding and FAFSA (2025-2026) assistance
  • Career counseling, résumé development, and interview preparation
  • Dedicated Student Success Advisor
  • Eligibility for summer internship placement
  • Changemaking and networking opportunities

What's Covered:
Tuition and fees at the in-state rate (after all other resources are applied), including Shark Pack digital materials.

Eligibility Highlights (for 2025-2026):

  • Miami-Dade County resident
  • Students must be entering college for the first time or be a graduating dual enrollee.
  • To meet enrollment eligibility, students must enroll in a minimum of 9 credits for the fall term following high school graduation from a high school in Miami-Dade County with a standard high school diploma.
  • Eligible graduation dates are between May and July 2025.
  • Students must complete the Future Ready Scholarship application.
  • Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Must complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA or, if unable to do so, the Student Aid Index (SAI) Calculator and upload results via the 2025-2026 SAI Document Upload Form.
  • Students earning a standard high school diploma through Florida Virtual School are eligible if they reside in Miami-Dade County.

2025 Ruth B. Kessler Scholarship

Deadline: October 27, 2025
Scholarship Amount: Up to $5,000
Description:

Scholarship Criteria:

  1. Pursuing a degree in the Benjamin Leon School of Nursing in the Licenses Practical Nursing (LPN) Program
  2. Please write a 250-500 word essay describing interest in long term or hospice/palliative care
  3. Completed the 2025-2026 FAFSA and exhibit financial need
  4. Cumulative GPA of at least 2.5

TEACH Grant

Deadline: Ongoing
Scholarship Amount: $4,000
Description: 

A TEACH Grant can help you pay for college if you plan to become a teacher in a high-need field in a low-income area. A Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant is different from other federal student grants because it requires you to take certain kinds of classes in order to get the grant, and then do a certain kind of job to keep the grant from turning into a loan. Javier Coto Scholarship

The School of Engineering and Technology (EnTec) at Miami Dade College is offering the Javier Coto Scholarship to students who enroll in a selected group of technology courses during the Fall 2025 semester.

Sponsored by Miami-Dade County and Apple, this scholarship supports the development of local talent in Artificial Intelligence and App Development.
Funds will be applied automatically at the in-state tuition rate after all other available resources (financial aid, scholarships, and grants) have been applied

Eligibility:

  • Current resident of Miami-Dade County
  • Enrolled for the first time in one or more of the following courses during Fall 2025:
    • CAI1001C - Artificial Intelligence Thinking
    • CAI2100C - Machine Learning Foundations
    • CAI2300C - Introduction to Natural Language
    • CAI2820C - Artificial Intelligence Applications
    • CAI2840C - Introduction to Computer Vision
    • COP2654 - iPhone App Dev. 1
    • COP2658 - iPhone App Dev. 2
    • GEB1432 - Applied AI in Business
    • GIS1040 - Introduction to GIS Technology
    • GIS2045 - Intermediate GIS Technology
    • HSC2060 - AI Applications in Healthcare
    • PHI2680 - AI & Ethics

What's Covered: 

  • In-state tuition rate and course fees for eligible students
  • Scholarship funds are applied after all other resources have been used

Duration:

  • Available for the Fall 2025 term while funding is available

How It Works:

  • Covers only tuition and class fees (no cash disbursements)
  • Applied automatically after all other scholarships, grants, and aid
  • No separate application required
  • Out-of-state students who reside in Miami-Dade County are responsible for the difference in tuition costs

FPL Tech Scholarship

Miami Dade College and Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) partnered to provide scholarships for students to facilitate the completion of baccalaureate degrees in the technology field. The funds from FPL will be used to cover tuition and fee costs for eligible students. This support will allow students to focus on their education, accelerating completion and entry into the tech workforce.

Eligibility:

  • Students who have overcome substantial education or economic obstacles.
  • US Citizen or permanent resident
  • Admitted in an MDC baccalaureate degree program in technology such as Information Systems Technology, Cybersecurity, or Data Analytics.
  • Must enroll in a minimum of two, upper-division baccalaureate degree courses per term for one year.
  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 at MDC or, if newly enrolled, at the prior institution attended.

What Is Covered?

  • The scholarship funds will cover stipend for courses fees and textbooks towards the completion of a baccalaureate degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems Technology, or Data Analytics.

Duration: 

  • The Scholarship is valid for a year.
