As a prominent and proud member of the Hialeah Community, Mr. Julio Ponce has served as the Executive Director for the Hialeah Housing Authority since 2010. Prior to being appointed and confirmed, Julio served as a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Hialeah Housing Authority from 1995 to 1999 and later as a member of the City Council of the City of Hialeah from 1999 to 2003. Julio has made housing accessibility a priority during his time in public service. He works closely with federal, state and local government officials to advance the mission and effectiveness of the Hialeah Housing Authority. 

Standing for an efficient housing authority and responsible leadership, Julio has worked to promote an inclusive environment fueled by bold ideas. Julio’s accomplishments at the Hialeah Housing Authority are representative of his work ethic. His greatest motivation is seeing results in the community. Since his tenure began, more than 7,200 families have been granted access to safe and secure housing and over 1,800 elderly residents across the City of Hialeah have received a daily hot meal. 

Under Julio Ponce’s leadership, the Hialeah Housing Authority was named a “High Performer” amongst a list of other housing authorities statewide. 

His passion for housing opportunities for all members of the community stems from his over 30 years of experience in the real estate sector. Julio is a member of The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), Florida Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (FAHRO), Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (PHADA), and the Miami Association of Realtors. Julio resides in Hialeah, Florida with his wife, Yade and four daughters Joanna, Alexa, Amanda and Brianna.
