falvarezFara Alvarez has been a resident of the City of Hialeah since her arrival in Miami in the 1960s. She left the island of Cuba seeking a life of freedoms and lived in Milwaukee, WI for less than a year. Since her arrival in Miami, Fara has worked in different factories ultimately making shoes for her career. 

Fara has been a resident of the Hialeah Housing Authority for just over 35 years and has served in different capacities around several buildings. She has served as building night shift manager. Fara’s late husband was a 15-year employee of the HHA before his retirement. She strongly believes in the mission of the Hialeah Housing Authority and calls it the greatest blessing in her life after her family. Her dedication and participation in the HHA led to her appointment as the resident commissioner for the Board of Commissioners. She has served in this capacity since 2016.

Fara received her GED through Henry H. Filer Middle School and graduated from Miami Dade College. She and her late husband created a true American Dream in always providing for their family a better life than theirs. Fara has 2 children, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
