Affordable Housing Bond Issue
On November 8, 1991, the Hialeah Housing Authority purchased Affordable Housing Buildings with conventional financing. Within nine months, the Authority issued bonds and replaced the conventional mortgage with Tax Exempt Bonds and purchased additional buildings with the bond proceeds. The Bonds were issued for the amount of $17,300,000.

In May of 1998, the Hialeah Housing Authority refunded these bonds that were initially $17,300,00 and reduced the amount to $14,575,000.

The Affordable Housing Program has a total of 545 units. The projects are at different locations in the Hialeah area and they are comprised of 2 efficiencies, and 1 and 2 bedroom dwelling units. The rent for an efficiency is $340.00, a one bedroom dwelling unit is $400.00 and a two bedroom unit is $540.00.

The location of the Hialeah Housing Authority's Affordable Housing projects are as follows:
16 Units at 1415 and1425 West 28th Street
35 Units at 3275 East 4th Avenue
24 Units at 700 East 4 th Avenue
32 Units at 30 West 33rd Street/35 West 32nd Street
360 Units at 1650,1655,1675 and 1680 West 56 Street
78 Units at 6830 and 6870 West 7th Avenue
The Affordable Housing Program generates rents totaling 2.8 million dollars annually.
